Don't Let Yourself Be Fooled: These Are the Tools You Really Need as a Product Designer

I've designed 25+ apps for both corporates and startups and here is my honest recommendation.

I’ve seen dozens of posts and articles about what tools a designer needs, and I am always furious 🤬 to see many options that shouldn’t be considered.

Designers need proper guidance, so let’s cut the bullshit. Here is my list of free(mium) and paid tools you need as a designer:

  • All-around design tool: Figma

  • Prototyping tools: Figma (basic), Protopie (super advanced)

  • Flow charts: FigJam (basic), Overflow (advanced)

  • White-boarding: FigJam

  • Issue tracking: Notion (basic), Jira (advanced)

  • Communication: Slack

  • Video conferencing: Google Meet

  • Calendar: Google Calendar

  • Documentations: Notion

  • Reporting: Figma, Notion, Google Sheet

  • Research and testing: Maze, Useberry

  • Presentations: Figma, Google Slides

That’s it. I want you not to waste your time with anything else. And you can use all of these for free (to some extent).

If there is any other tool worth checking out, let me know. I read every message.

Also, if you want to know more about these tools, just send me this emoji: ✋.

Aaand have a pixel-perfect day!
