This is where I go for design inspiration
Are you still using Dribbble?
Well, you shouldn’t.
Over the last few years, Dribbble has become superficial. There’s been a lot of discussion about this among designers and it’s losing popularity daily.
Why? Because it’s superficial. It's filled with concepts that lack UX thinking, which isn't ideal for beginners trying to improve.
While it’s still an awesome tool to discover new ideas, I prefer other sources of inspo. Et voila:
(The GIFs might take some time to load…)
Godly is hands down my go-to for web design inspiration. It *really* is a curation of the best website designs, not some randomly selected list with lots of low-quality projects.
What’s more, the smart filters let you drill down by technology or platform (such as Framer), giving you a real sense of each tool's potential. Instant bookmark!
2. mobbin.com
Mobbin needs no introduction. It’s not a free app, but worth all the money. It’s the tool I use the most during the quick research phase. You can discover certain flows or components in a bunch of apps. It’s the most obvious research tool.
The reason why it’s such a hit is that it’s not a collection of concepts. THESE ARE REAL APPS. With research and tracking behind. And actual users. This is key.
When working on a new feature for a project (say Onboarding), I often create a Figma collection with Mobbin screenshots to highlight relevant ideas. Then I can reverse-engineer their decisions to see if they make sense for us too.
(Just a heads-up: this isn't the only type of research you'll want to do for your project, but it's an important piece of the puzzle.)
3. Kevin (yes, just Kevin)
I’m quite active on Twitter (X), and Kevin’s my latest discovery. He has a great eye for design (something good to be born with, but it can be learned). I love how he handles white space (any white space lovers here?) and everything he does has a magical subtlety.
And he can do latte art.
Just like Supafast Zander.
Or me. 😅
And that’s it for now.
By the way, my newsletter subscribers doubled last week! 🤯 Welcome, welcome! Welcome. I’m super glad that I’m not writing to the void and if you have anything (anything!) that’d make this newsletter better, drop a message. I read every reply.
Aaand have a pixel-perfect day!
